Sonia Lawson RA is always challenging embedded ways of seeing. So it is no surprise to see her in the unconventional space of Vertigo’s reconfigured tarpaulin factory in Shoreditch. It seems the prefect place to reassess the pared down symbolism of Lawson’s recent works (including ‘Oasis’ left), with their beautifully heavy textures and minimal iconic lexicon. They resonate with power and an earthy vivacity. ‘Sonia Lawson’ is at Vertigo from 18 October to 12 November
